1.Come up with four different design themes that you like. Explain why. -1.Outbacked Stake House -2.Sweetwater Bungalows -3.ISO Standard Steel Containers -4.I RAD Rapid Assembly Dwellings 2.Find pictoral/graphic examples and explain how they would work in certain post disaster situations. What are the pros and cons? Outbacked Stake House-This house can support against floods and certain winds Sweetwater Bungalow-can survive through the rain but will die in harsh winds ISO Standard Steel Containers-can survive winds up to a 100mph but cant be built on site I RAD Rapid Assembly Dwellings-can survive in tropical storms and are mold, and termite proof and they are fire resistant
3.Consider potential materials, weight, cost, transportation logistics, and any other variables that could make one design strategy better than another.
The outbacked staked house will be quite heavy which is why we would have to build on site. The materials like all the steel would be heavy and would have to air lifted in or manually carried if theres enough help. But due to the deisgn it could survive well in flooding conditions and in heavy rain.
The Sweetwater Bungalow is a small affordable house which can survive rainfall and would be easy to transport due to there not being much materials. So in other words this could easily be moved manually and we could build many of this kind of housing due to it being cheap.
The Iso Standard Steel Container is easily affordable and can be moved in by air. It can have living arrangements inside it beforehand or it can be put in after. It can survive harsh winds up to 100mph and can survive very harsh rain.
IRAD Rapid Assembly Dwellings are easily affordable and are very light and eco-friendly. This makes it easy to move and can be moved by hand. These homes are made for the tropics like the Phillippines. Thus it can survive the winds and the rain. These homes are mold and termite proof and they are fire resistant.
4.Do you have any fusion ideas that connect different ideas you have noted?
Yes if i was to take the Container idead for the outside of the house liek the walls and the stilts used in the outback staked house i could probably design a house that can survive both harsh winds, rain, and floods.
5.Could you design a better idea yourself? How?
No i probably could not design a better house myself due to these houses are very well made.
